fidelity research mc? thorens 2001

Greetz I have a Thorens TD2001 with a TP 50 (14 g mass arm) . I recently heard the Fidelity R MC 201 and i'm really impressed with the sound. I was thinking if it could fit the TP 50 in terms of resonance and tracking,or should i change to a lighter/heavier tonearm? thanks! Filip

Hi,
Welcome to vinyl circle.

Without specific knowledge of this combination I think you could give it a try.  The compliance of the MC-201 isn't listed, but VTF is 1.75g +/- .25g.
That seems like an appropriate range for your arm.  I think it unlikely that your arm would be too heavy, and if more mass would help you could add some weight to the headshell.  In terms of mass/cu I suspect it will be fine.  This doesn't address the advisability of the specific combo I have no experience with.
A few test records have arm/cart resonance tracks you could try, but I think you wouldn't need them.
