Sold: Ncore 400 monoblocks

I bought the modules and installed these Ncore monoblocks myself in June of 2012.  They were my main amps until about six months ago, when I got a different lower powered amp that's a better fit for the sake of my high efficiency speakers and general system synergy.  I guess I like a colored presentation a bit more than the completely neutral performance of the Ncore.  I just can't justify letting these sit around any longer and have some other expenses coming up.

Anyway, the quality and performance ratio of these Ncores speaks for itself at this point.  I can answer any questions about the build you might have.  Modules and power supplies are stock, no modifications.  I did line the chassis lid with a bit of ERS paper, and the side of the power supplies as well, which I found to improve things a bit.  It has the upgraded signal wire from Hypex that they started distributing after moving away from the original Mogami they started out with.  AC inlet is a good quality Furutech, and XLR is one of the higher cost Neutrik's.  I can get specific model numbers if you want to know.  I have the amp mute function on a toggle switch, but no power toggle.  They sound better plugged in continuously anyway.

Speaker cable is routed directly from the modules through holes in the chassis and wrapped around the binding posts so that your speaker cables can connect directly to the internal speaker cable wiring.  This is a neat trick that saves a soldering joint and eliminates any sonic character from the binding posts.  It's like directly soldering to the amp module itself.  Internal speaker cabling is DH Labs T-14 hookup wire, but you could easily swap this out for whatever you prefer, and without any soldering required.  If you don't like the holes through the chassis approach, you could just solder the internal speaker wire to the binding posts and use them normally.  I installed high end Cardas patented binding posts, so you should be golden there in terms of binding post quality.

I also have a single-ended preamp, so I used Cardas Clear XLR/RCA adapters (highest quality Cardas offers), and these made a huge difference over the Radioshack connectors I had when I started.  If you're also in need of RCA connections, I'll include these for only $50 extra.  They go for $120-150 new.

Chassis is a champagne color, so a bit different than the typical black or silver/grey.  I liked it.  Chassis from Sunetech on Ebay, and isn't anything special really.  A neat feature is that the front plate is completely separate from the rest of the chassis and can be removed and still have the basic chassis front underneath.  So, you could design a faceplate on www.frontpanelexpress.com or other, ship these out for custom silk screening, color, etching or whatever, and have your own custom designed look.  I had intended to, but never got around to it.

I'd say in total I have about $250 in the two chassis and parts, the modules and power supplies are worth about $1350 at current exchange rates, plus the $85 or so import duty.  All told, you're looking at $1600 in parts/modules, another $85 for import.  Plus my labor in assembling.  Asking $1400 obo, plus shipping (from 66502) and fees.  And I'll save you $70 on the fancy XLR/RCA adapters from Cardas if that's what you need.

Price reduction!!!

Seriously, these are now for sale for the price of the modules themselves, basically.  Parts, chassis, and assembly are basically free at this price point!

OzarkTom

Nobody is buying Ncore 400's any more?
