NIGHTFALL1970

Last night I did an A/B comparison and the original blew away the MOFI version in every way.  The original had better bass, more open soundstage, lifelike vocals and symbols.  The Mofi version sounded dead, flat and lifeless.  Sounded like a flat wall of sound, even if I cranked it up.  Was this due to Mofi not getting original tapes?  No mention of original tapes being used.  Was the music "digitized" and that kills the life?  Are Mofi overrated? Do they just master the sound badly?  I am aggravated that it sounds this bad.  Now I need to A/B all the Mofi Foreigner that I bought.  Anyone else have a problem with Mofi sound?

That's exactly why I've been thinking about adding one of these in the future thru my preamps tape loop. Its the recordings that need help.

I found similar SQ issues between an original Steve Ray Vaughn "Couldn't Stand the Weather". The MoFi version was very polite sounding, whereas the original LP was raw sounding with boomy bass and a bit more dynamic. Definitely different!
