So Hifiman does not allow much discounting on their cans, so you don't see prices like this.

$580 for the HE500, if I didn't have a set I would be all over this.
That's the lowest price already unlocked.

They also have the 400, could go to $330 if it gets unlocked.

They also have the Ortofon eq5, which is supposed to be a really good IEM.  I almost bought one, and would consider it now if I didn't have too many IEM's already.

I'm not sure if aggressive or desperate is the right word, but you can't even see the page about the he-500 to find out what's going on without giving up your email address.

I sign in through facebook, but otherwise you do need an account, which is a pain.

With Massdrop, they won't sell unless enough people commit to the deal.  With the HE-500, they have already sold enough to "unlock" the lowest price, $580.

I never actually bought from Massdrop, but I do monitor their deals, and never heard of a problem, so I consider them safe.

Like I said, if I didn't have a set, I would have already ordered from them for the 500's.

Sorry John, looks like the HE500 deal is sold out.  I guess they had a limited number of cans, and they hit the limit.
400 is still available, they ship internationally, but no idea of cost.

I think some other vendors are having 400 on black friday specials.
