I am a VPI dealer, and as such receive regular e-mail announcements regarding gear and promos.

Today I received such an e-mail and while some of it is for "dealers only", I ask permission to post about Mat making a TV appearance this Friday announcing a NEW TABLE that will go into production soon.

As you can see, he will also talk about VPI, the Traveler, 3D printing and American made products

Here is the "cleared" text:

Important announcement, on Friday between 5-6pm Eastern Standard time I will be appearing on Bloomberg Television again to talk about VPI, the Traveler, 3D printing and American made products.  Because of this opportunity I’m going to announce our new turntable that we have been working on called, the Nomad!  We were planning on announcing the table in January at CES but having a chance to announce it on national television shouldn’t be wasted.

I will announce it Friday, we will show it at CES, and have the production run for sometime in early 2014 we are looking at around end of January early February.

Someone on another forum said this is an artist's rendering.  Looks like a low res photo to me and it has the VPI logo.

This table isn't even released yet and they're already getting a lot of negative criticism.  It does kind of look like a U-Turn Orbit, especially the arm.  It comes with a built-in phono stage, RCA out, headphone amp and $50 (retail) set of Grado phones.  Also comes with a 2M Red cart.

If VPI has their speed regulation circuitry built in, it might smoke the Orbit.   :dunno:
That finish on the plinth looks nice.

I just zoomed in on the photo and those look like conventional arm bearings on the VPI.  I think U-Turn is a unipivot.
