FS: Power line DC Blocker

This is an audiophile-quality power distributor with DC blocker in excellent condition. Used very little. The high-quality components allow only, clean, DC-free power to go through to your audio/video/home theater system, eliminating audible noise and hum. This heavy-duty unix is made of professional-grade components:

  • 1X Furutech FP15A solid copper duplex receptacle
  • 1X FI-10G gold IEC inlet
  • 2X  35A/1000V diode bridges
  • 4X 33,000uF capacitors

Great to connect between the wall receptacle and a power conditioner or direct to your audio / video components.

$135.00 (+ $15.00 continental shipping waived for local pick up).

This appears to be a 'one-off' custom design., which I would assume was created to solve a problem. Can you comment on why this came about, what it added to your system, and perhaps why you no longer need it?

These are custom made by someone near me for audiophile purposes. DC blockers are not uncommon audiophile components. PS Audio produced the Hum Buster II until no so long ago. Likewise for the Channel Islands Audio AC Filter. DC contamination of AC power lines is a common problem, specially for people living in buildings with multiple apartment units in them. DC contamination will cause hum in components' transformers. Depending on your equipment and configuration, this hum may be loud enough to be audible from the listening position and even be amplified and come out of the speakers. Hum can seriously degrade sound quality. The transformer's vibration may also degrade the resolution and soundstage of your system.

I have a noise problem in my apartment and it was suggested to me that it was DC contamination, so I had one made as both PS Audio and CI Audio units are discontinued. However, in my particular case, the noise is not DC contamination and the hum did not improve with DC filtering. I was able to later confirm this with an electrician. However, I had ordered this filter with really high-quality components. It cost quite a bit more than I am asking for it. It is just a shame to keep it around collecting dust, when someone may actually have good use for it.

Hey Dr.

I do like kt77s, but I recently got a quad. If you had a quad of vintage 12AU7s...

Sorry mate, I know someone who might though. I have E80CC for myself, if you can use those (higher heater current and taller bottle) give them a whirl.
