Check out Canare's 4S11 cable. It is sometimes referred to as "StarQuad" since it's a 4 conductor wire that can be used to bi-wire (at 14 AWG per conductor) or combined for standard runs (at 11 AWG). It's very well made, versatile, Japanese wire that sells for less than a buck forty per foot. I typically just tin the ends with silver solder, but you can also buy spades or locking banana plugs to your liking. Canare, like Belden, is sold through a number of re-sellers including Blue Jeans Cable, Marketek, and on eBay. I've never bought boutique brands of speaker wire, but whatever floats your boat. Interconnects I believe are a different story in that I can more readily distinguish between their sonic attributes than I can speaker wire.

You might find more responses if you posted this one in a different circle.  This one is specifically for open baffle speakers (love your choice of Salk by the way, even if they are not OB!).

That said, I found (even when I was far more heavily invested in my system, whereas I have now simplified greatly) that going with one company for all my cabling satisfied me.

I ran Bolder Cables everything - power cables, IC's, speaker cables etc.

Whoops. Noticed that and thought I deleted.  Sorry about that

You might also check out Belden cables.

Seems like the love for Canare is not unanimous:

For years I've used Canare 4S11 and 4S8 cable in Star Quad configuration for my speakers.  I'm been pleased with the results.  But audio cables can tweak the subjective side of a lot of listeners.

I use Canare star quad in my totally modded Grado headphones, and like it very much too.

Guess you're getting some excellent suggestions here too, glad that it was not deleted.

Have fun picking!

You should look at Kimber 8PR. The stuff works REALLY well (see the Audioholics review and measurements) and Kimber's factory terminations are very nice. If you don't like them, I'd skip the VS and go straight to Kimber 8TC (either used or unterminated). For the record, I completely agree with you that the effects of cables are very system dependent. However, I believe speaker cables have a less complex job than IC's and good speaker cables will perform more alike than different in most situations. Do your research, take the very uh..."opinionated" opinions with a grain of salt, and go with your gut. You'll likely end up with what is best for you.

So you're looking for a shotgun bi-wire: two connectors on one end and four on the other?

I would strongly suggest you have Jim simply give you two terminals per speaker instead of four. Bi-wiring on a pair of SongTowers is not going to improve the sound. I had a pair of Salk HT1-TLs, and I always wished I had just gotten two terminals on the back instead of four. It really drives up the cost and hassle of connecting the speakers to have four terminals on each.

Some speakers benefit from bi-amping but in those cases the manufacturer will clearly spell that out as a design intention.

But if you're going to get them setup for bi-wiring, you might also consider the Anti-Cables. They offer some excellent bi-wiring options, built to order. http://anticables.com/speaker-wires/2-channel#!/~/product/category=3449817&id=14623452

Compared to Blue Jeans Cable's Belden 10 gauge, I found the Anti-Cables to be more detailed and open with better bass and a very natural and realistic timbre. By looks and price, they seem like long red coathanger wire. My biases were not towards sounding better than an insulated stranded copper cable solidly constructed. They are in your price range and a lot of people have found them to be excellent for their needs.

Another option is Reality Cables. That's what I use now. http://realitycables.com/index.html
I do like them better than the Anti-Cables, but they are a bit more expensive. I don't know if he makes a shotgun bi-wire vs. a regular set + a jumper.

Can this be moved elsewhere? It's nothing to do with OB :(
