I've been listening to Electronic music for about 33 years. Sort of got away from hard rock for a number of years and began listening to artists like Vangelis, Gary Numan, Tangerine Dream, Jean Michel Jarre, Michael Garrison, Redshift, Ian Boddy, Ron Boots, David Arkenstone, Yanni, etc..
One album that IMO is one of the best analog synth music that've I've heard (and its rare) is Tang Go by Tangerine Dream. It's difficult for me to describe where it fits in the genre. It's not typical Tangerine Dream stuff, yet it's still the Tangerine Dream trademark style. Its more up tempo, heavier sound that I find very creative and engaging. I have the 2 disc set edited down to the 11 good songs from the album.
If you are into analog synth and want something that's upbeat but not techno then I suggests giving this album a try, which I think has been overlooked because of so many Tangerine Dream albums.
