I'd think about unloading something else...
I did that, after seven years I'm lonely.
Lori has been tentatively talked into the Maggies in the living room, I said they look like Japanese screens.
Lori is a keeper! Anyone who can patiently sit and smile through a lunch while two audio nuts discuss electronics, speakers, and music is all right in my book! Good move Dan!
This product just might fit the bill for your surround sound issues:http://www.outlawaudio.com/products/OAWA3.htmlIt is a wireless amp that is specifically made for just this reason. $319.00 from Outlaw AudioChris
I don't know man. I think downsizing is downsizing. It's not eliminating, and it's not hiding out in the bedroom with all of your junk. Its an opportunity to do things differently, it's not an ending. I think you will be surprised how many audiophile rules you can break and still enjoy your music. You might even enjoy your music more than you do now.Why not try something like this, but place the speakers up against the wall (and close to furniture) where they are meant to be? Let your girl and best friend pick the finish, and let her decide where to put them in the room.http://www.audiocircle.com/image.php?id=65216Keep it simple and user friendly, then the two of you can enjoy music the living room. Trim all the gear down to an integrated amp, a nice small pair of wall friendly speakers, and a killer CD player. If there's room for phono fine, but if not - dump it. Enjoy your new life. It's an opportunity to share something you love in a new and simpler way.Someday I will downsize my system. I will keep my speakers (or maybe get a pair of Js)' and jam 'em up against the living room wall in my new little condo. I will probably drive them with an Otto signature. I'll keep the CD player, but sell everything else.Best of luck to you two, and happy moving.

What QE said!General question: Can an audiophile not be obsessive? Question for you: Is it OK to mellow out the equipment demands as life changes? My advice is to enjoy your music with simple/compact equipment.
Thanks Steve, but why is everyone trying to sell me equipment when I'm trying to get rid of stuff.
I have a large truck. I can come by this weekend and help relieve you of some of that stuff in your way.
Why not take the Snells into a local repair shop and let them do the work while you move? You can pick them up after you have moved in. They are boxed and ready to go! You need to fix them anyway, so let someone else take the pressure off.Moving is a stressful time. It's ok to outsource some of the work load.
Just had a pair of Snell EIV woofers refoamed for $100. A better speaker then expected. Not as transparent as our Pipedreams but Man the toes are are a tapping. May the Snell be with you.charles
Sure Bob, thanks for the help. The directions to my place are.... "Take a right at the the light then go straight until night and then boys you're on your own".
And then I'll be blinded by the light.
