I am looking forward to the Bryston event in L.A. on Oct 20th. I hate driving to L.A. but I am making an exception to hear the 28B-SST2, BDP-1, and the new speakers.

BEST IN RMAF SHOW:

I'm partial to the Wilson xlfs with Thors Hammer... But I am very impressed with the Joseph audio and Bryston rooms. Oh.. And mbl! Scaena (sp?) had some amazing speakers at the Hyatt as well!

Hi James

Thanks for showing the Mini T's at RMAF.

Heard them in action and found them to be very smooth, accurate and honest.

The value impressed as well.

Re: Best Of RMAF List/Discussion

I'm still in Denver after helping out in the Vapor Audio room. This year after 15 years of doing this, my wife and I finally had the opportunity to see about half the rooms in both hotels. We were accomplied by our new friends from Antipodes Audio. Great server and worked perfectly with my Off-Ramp in the Vapor room.

Here are the stand- outs for me, besides the Vapor Room of course:

Gr Research/Dodd Audio - beautiful, natural sound, great imaging
Peachtree/Zu - big bold and dynamic. not the best focus, but really fun and unfatigueing
Joseph Brodmann GmbH - best dissappearing act, tonally beautiful and off-axis perfection from a dome tweeter and a great value for a European company - all custom drivers

Most interesting new technologies:

Plasmatron AC power regulator (tube) from VHaudio - used this in the Vapor room with superb results
Synergistic HFT and FEQ room tuning devices

Best system all from one company - Bryston

James, I was definitely impressed with the sound you guys were able to get from the Mini T's.

Even though that room was far from ideal for sound, you didn't put treatments anywhere, yet had better sound than many other rooms layered in diffusion panels. Amazing speakers at a seriously affordable price point!

Thanks - one of the advantages of designing a speaker to have excellent Sound Power is the reflections in the room match tonally the direct sound from the speakers so room treatments etc. are not an issue.

"That's a lot of bass!" I was listening to the audiophile version of Nine-Inch-Nails' "A copy of a copy..." on Bryston's three-way Mini-T stand-mounted speakers ($2695/pair).

The speaker's woofer has a large half-roll surround, suggesting good linearity at large excursions, which was confirmed by the fullrange sound in the room.

The rest of the system included Bryston 28B monoblocks, hooked up with StraightWire cables and with a Bryston BDP-2 file player and BDA-1 DAC as the source.

James,
What brand of amp stand are the 28's sitting on? I'm looking for something for my 7's.

Hi

You know I am not sure - we have had those for about 10 years and I forget who we got them from - I know it was a company that built component stands as well - not sure if they are still around?
