NEW PHONO from ModWright! Look into the future at RMAF 2013!

At RMAF 2013, we will be using a 'concept' version of a new phono stage, to be released in the future.

Code Name: 'Black', the all-tube, Lundahl transformer coupled design features 6C45 and 6922 tube complement, as well as a 5AR4/GZ34 rectifier.

Power supply is external, gain = 68dB with variable loading. Final production design will have variable gain, MM/MC settings and be very flexible.

The 'Black' unit used at RMAF will be in room 514 with Dynamic Design cables, Marten Design speakers, Stillpoints Isolation and Racks and Helius table and arm will be used with Dynavector XV-1S cart.

Another 'Black' phono was just used in Germany at their show with GREAT success!

I am excited about this new design. It is the first Reference Phono stage that we have designed since we discontinued the SWP 9.0SE some years back. I have learned a lot since then and this takes things to an ENTIRELY new level!

The Proto is fairly unassuming looking in its current form, but I urge you to visit Room 514 and give it a LISTEN!

I've loved your phono stages that I've owned so far. Will I be able to use this directly into an amplifier? That feature would surely get my vote!

Hi Guys, I am working on the final production prototype right now.

It will not include a volume control, but does have 0dB, -6dB, -12dB gain adjustment for MC (max 68dB) and MM (max 53dB). All front panel R and C loading, MM, MC, Mute, Mono/Stereo select. Toggles on rear panel for phase and RCA/XLR out.

Hi, yes actually I do!

The PH 150 is our new Reference Phono stage.

Max MC gain = 72dB; Max MM gain = 52dB (-6dB, -12dB (MM & MC) via front panel control).
MM Capacitive loading (6 steps) - front panel control.
MC Resistive loading (6 steps) - front panel control.
RCA/XLR outputs - switchable via rear panel toggle.
Mono/Stereo - switchable via front panel button.
Phase Switching - via rear panel toggle.

(1) Pair MM RCA inputs.
(1) Pair MC RCA inputs.
(1) Pair RCA outputs.
(1) Pair XLR outputs.

Tube Complement: (2) 6C45; (2) 6922.

Design topology: Lundahl transformer coupled, input and output.

Power supply: Pure SS, external.

Final production proto will be in use at Axpona Chicago show. Product release scheduled for June.

MSRP = $7995.

Umbilical not shown. It is an 8-pin, 4 ft. umbilical made with silver-plated copper, Teflon insulated Mil-spec wire and Switch Craftcraft connectors.

I heard it yesterday at CAF and it is a killer. Dan has really hit it out of the park with this one. The vinyl we listened to was mesmerizing. I love the fact that all of the cartridge adjustments are on the front along with a mono/stereo button.

I would very much like to find a phono stage with enough output voltage to allow me to use my TVC. Is the PH150 capable of doing that?

It depends on the output of your cartridge. Max MC gain is 72dB. Let me know which cart you are using and I can do the calculations.
