Does anyone know were I might send it for repair/upgrade ?

thanks...

Yep.
Go here:
www.thecarversite.com and get the Mk. II upgrade done.
You'll have a powerhouse of an amplifier.

Carver was my first serious HiFi system back in the 80s.
I had the MXR-2000 receiver, C2 preamp, M1.0t amp, and the hologram generator.

When I bought the MXR-2000 receiver I was the happiest man in the world  :thumb:     Wish I still had that baby

WireNut, that MXR 2000 looks sweet...!

I was going through my basement and found some stereo equipment that needs repair or refurbishing, just thought I would revive them all.

Found an old "NAD 2200" power amplifier, now I need to find a place that would repair it, have any ideas.....?

Thanks..

bladesmith,

Not at this time but I really need to find a shop or a tech close by. I used Rite Track here in Cincinnati to repair a circuit board one time but they really just did it as a favor because I was 5 minutes away. They rebuild industrial circuit boards of un-godly money.

The thing is, one of the techs I talked to was building a tube power amp from scratch. I should try and hook up with him, he's 5 minutes away.

Anyway, I'd keep that Carver and Nad stuff if I were you. Can't get it back.

I bought the very first Carver Receiver (MX-130) when it first came out and just like Wirenut, I was over the moon.
If RichP can't slot you in for the M1.0t upgrade, other members on the site should be able to help you out.
Maybe try AVNerdguy here on this site for the NAD?  Shoot him a PM and see what he says.

Steveford,

Just got my call from Rolland, his actual price was higher than his website quote, which isnt cool,  but I am going forward.

Should be back here in two weeks.

B.

(I later thought about the over charge and called Rolland back and asked for a refund.)

Is the upgrading to the Mk. II specs or just doing the refurb?
I was Patient Zero for the Mk. II project and what a powerhouse of an amplifier that is - it would blow you out of the room.

SteveFord,

There are two people repairing/modifying these units,  the guy (Richard) you are talking about does a very good and thorough upgrade for a reasonable,  upfront charge.  But, as luck would have it, I sent it to the other guy ( Rolland). And his charges are excessive.  It was a mistake and is my fault to trust people who say "trust me", in the audio industry.

So, instead of gettin' taken for a ride, I had him send it back. Rollands charges were about 100.00 dollars more than Richards, and Richard does a lot more work.

I am very disappointed over the whole deal.

Richards site,  http://carvermk2.com

If you join thecarversite and ask nicely and mention my name, maybe a member with some spare time will be able to help you out.
There's lots of good people there and I know that Rich has got quite a waiting list.
P.S.
I hear that Dean's hooking you up - you're in good hands, he's a good guy whose done a lot of work on my old piles of peerless vintage gems.

Its been six days now, Rolland  ( http://www.carveraudiorepair.com/index.html  ) hasn't sent me my refund yet, this guy is not worthy. He has $409.00 dollars of mine, and I dont appreciate his unprofessional work ethic.

He gives people in the audio industry a bad name.

Bladesmith.

Rolland is difficult to work with, his quoted prices are not accurate, we went are seperate ways.  Got the amp back, and I am having a local electronic repair shop here in KC take care of the amp.

The guy here in KC seems confident he can fix anything, he gave me a very reasonable quote and has been working on audio equipment his whole life.

We will see.
