WTB: A good Preamp
« on: 3 Oct 2013, 09:42 pm »
Need a preamp as now i have a DAC, FM tuner and a Receiver as input and need a preamp that contrrol the input and send the output to DEQX which is paired to Ncore.

I am thinking a really good preamp like pass labs or some tube preamp....

So Max budget after all this is 1300.

I am still in moving  so will buy in around 2-3 weeks.

Some folks on this site have an Aikido tube pre and a Bent Tap-X both in your budget

EDIT: No affiliation with either sale. The Bent unit I've heard in a Class D (ICE amp) setup, and it was great.

I've had a tube pre/Class D setup, which I liked a lot. Never heard the Aikido unit, but it has a good reputation. I can only imagine the 6SN7 would give a big, juicy sound.

Seems that a lot of folks really like tube preamps with ncore amps.

jackman for instance. IIRC he runs an SAS preamp with his set-up. Forget the model he has.

I've been kicking around selling my Sonic Frontiers SFL-2 (Black Face Plates) if interested.

Can be persuaded to part with my Maple Tree 2 A SE Line Stagevwith separate power supply, 3 inputs, 2 outputs, sounds like a $3,000 preamp. Extra NOS tubes. A 9/10, mint. $650. Google it. Sage green.

I've decided to keep my Sonic Frontiers SFL-2. Just to good of a preamp to let go of. A line 2 would be a good choice.

If you're interested in something completely transparent and much less expensive, my Pre-5 is still available.
