Audio by Van Alstine will be at RMAF
« on: 3 Oct 2013, 08:41 pm »
Dean Barnell and I will be representing Audio by Van Alstine at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest, now less than two weeks away (Oct 11-13).

We will be in room 1107, sharing with Jim Salk as usual.

We will have the brand new Transcendence Nine vacuum tube preamp and the brand new Fet Valve CF cathode follower tube preamp playing.

We will also have the Fet Valve 600R, Synergy 450 and Utravalve amps playing, along with the Fet Valve hybrid DAC and the HumDinger.

We are sure to be making some great music.  Please come and visit us there.  I missed last year because of knee surgery, but its fixed fine now.

Best regards,

Frank Van Alstine

I was sorry to have missed you last year, Frank, although you can't argue with surgery. Looking forward to finally meeting you after years of great sound.

I had planned on going this year and as what usually happens work has prevented the trip. So I hope that there are many reviews from AC members to read.

In the thread announcing the new Vision phone preamp, Frank makes a reference to:

a new prototype vacuum tube hybrid phono preamp too.

I'm not an insider nor trying to start a rumor (just own a few pieces of his gear) but it's there in his post.  8)

Here is Robert Harley's take on AVA equipment at RMAF

The Part Time Audiophile was impressed too.  Here is his report.

More to come.  All of the major audio reviewers really liked our sound this year.

What was the "pleasant surprise" you alluded to earlier?  (Great sound isn't a surprise to anyone...)

"The new Fet Valve CF preamp ($1899) and Fet Valve Hybrid amp (the 400R, $2699; 600R,  $3199)." Pinched fro the TAS link.

Neither were "surprises" at that show.  The Fet Valve CF was announced here 1 month prior, and the 400R/600R are from 2011 and were already shown at the 2011 and 2012 RMAF.

Frank,
what happened to the all tube phono preamp? Was it too expensive to produce?

The prototype tube hybrid preamp is running just fine.  However we need to provide it with moving coil capability to make it useful in the high end stratosphere.

We are working on that issue now.

Frank

PS  The nice surprise was a special 15 percent discount for RMAF show attendees only.  No other sales on the horizon at all now.  Business is great.
