I,Robot new pressings opinions, please
« on: 3 Oct 2013, 12:41 pm »
Need to replace my well worn original copy of Alan Parson's I, Robot (scratched more than worn).  There are a couple of different pressing currently available. Anyone have advice ot an opinion which one may be better ?

The two I refer to are at www.soudstagedirect.com.

ASCO-CLAS 7002: 200g

FMIN MOV 151 180 g (Music on Vinyl) $35

As far as I can tell, the Mobile Fidelity 180 g release is not currently available (?).  $40

Alternate option would be ebay to find a used replacement.

Thanks in advance...

Mark

I'm not sure which is better of the two you listed as I have only listened to the original issue. I have been pleased with Music on Vinyl reissues of other albums. They use the analogue masters available. http://www.musiconvinyl.com/about and their pressing quality is excellent.

When I'm looking for a must have record I can't find a good copy in a store, locally or in my travels, I go to Discogs. I strongly prefer it to eBay.  There are a lot of mint/near mint copies of I Robot for sale including several MoFi copies, http://www.discogs.com/sell/list?master_id=4338&format=Vinyl&condition=Near+Mint+%28NM+or+M-%29&sort=price%2Cdesc.

Good luck
