I bought these speakers online from a renowned Hi-Fi dealer. Unfortunately, they must have got knocked during transit from the dealer, who offered me a fair discount if I decided to keep them, which I did, as I felt that the damage wasn't too bad. The damage is purely cosmetic and is only on the outer surfaces of the cabinets, so the drivers, crossovers, binding posts and floor spikes are absolutely fine. They work perfectly and sound just as good as a brand new pair, if not better due to the run-in period they have had. It is difficult to see any damage when they are in position.

I have tried to show as much detail of the damage as possible, which I think it looks worse in the close-up photos than it actually is. Some of the images have glare from the sunlight, which are not marks on the speakers or grilles. Apart from the damage listed below they are in excellent condition:

  • 1" dent about half way up from the base on the rear edge of speaker 1 (see 4th and 5th photos from top).
  • 3/4" surface dent about half way up from the base on the rear edge of speaker 2 (see 6th and 7th photos from top).
  • Side panel on speaker 2 has a cluster of small surface dents in the veneer about half way up from the base towards the front (see 8th and 9th photos from top).
  • Bottom front corner of speaker 2 has a small 5mm chip, which is quite difficult to see unless you bend down and look closely (see 10th photo from top).
  • Top right front corner of speaker 2 has a very slight crack in the veneer, which is barely noticeable (see 11th photo from top).
  • One of the detachable front grille covers has snapped near the top (see last photo from top), but when the grille is attached to the speaker you cannot see that it has snapped. The speakers sound better without them, but replacement grilles are available directly from PMC.

Some of the damage should be fairly easy to repair or disguise with fine sandpaper, a Liberon mahogany touch-up pen (recommended by PMC) and some furniture wax or varnish.

A quick search on Google will reveal several positive reviews, some of which are here:

"I was floored by the twenty.24’s strengths: bass depth and control that I didn’t think possible from a two-way, and detail and transparency that rivaled the very best speakers out there"
