Room Nodes / Bass Nodes

Hi fellas,

Whenever the drum beats reach a certain frequency, the picture frames in one corner of my room begin resonating with a buzz. It is incredibly annoying and is driving me nuts. It sounds like the evil twin brother of ghetto-mobiles with their vibrating trunk / boot lids.

Any solutions to offer?

I have already tried cotton padding behind the picture frames, and even using double-sided heavy duty 3M foam tape, it only helps somewhat.

Could be the glass in the frame.

Funny, I have an empty beer can collection on the wall and the locks on the bar's shelf doors make more noise than the cans.

Is it speakers that's causing this?  When my sub was causing rattles, I put it on rubber isolators.  This stopped pretty much all rattles.

This is caused by the bass form the speakers.

You can try different placement of the speakers and/or add some room treatments.

Option 1:
Increase the volume until the picture falls off the wall.  The cracked glass and frame warpage will likely change the resonant frequency of the picture frame and should solve your buzzing problem.

Option 2:
Change your perception of the issue.  Embrace the buzzing!  Install hydraulic lift kit on house foundations, add chromed chain steering wheel, dingle balls and fuzzy carpet to taste.  Attach license plate to rear of listening room with only one loose screw.  Play only rap CDs with exaggerated bass, regardless of musical content.

Marigo dots.  They do work!

I just finished comparing speakers... GMA Europas to Usher X-718's... The Europas made the casing of one of my windows rattle.... However, the 718's had much more bass and didn't rattle anything but me. ;)

It could possibly have to do with speaker placement as well.. try pulling the speakers into the room another foot (if you can).
