Pass Labs XP20 pre with 7bsst and PMC IB2i?
« on: 24 Sep 2013, 04:57 pm »
Hi guys, pretty new here so go easy. I have the opportunity to purchase a Pass xp20 pre to go with my 7bsst and IB2i, is it a step up from a BP25. It should be considering the price! Are the Pass good with Bryston or is a nasty combo? I listen to all types of music except for country and western as the nearest we have to that here in the Uk is Morris Dancing. Just not my thing.

Thanks in advance   :D

Here's what I can tell you, FWIW; I spotted a very positive review of that Pass unit earlier in the summer so I called an audio engineer friend who has no connection with Bryston for his thoughts. He was of the opinion that Bryston's preamps are probably better based on the respective engineering philosophies as he sees them.

I was happy with my BP25 and only sold it to buy an SP1 when it was just coming out. I'll skip the long story and just say I now have a BHA-1 for a preamp. It sounds amazing and has all the features I presently require. Hope this helps.

I bought an XP-10 in June to mate with my 14B SST. I absolutely love it.
