SOLD: 4Pi speaker components - $675 local pickup
« on: 23 Sep 2013, 02:09 pm »
***SOLD***

I have for sale all of the major components necessary to build a fantastic pair of 4Pi constant-directivity (waveguide) speakers - only item missing is a single 0.5mh inductor for each speaker.  I've come to realize that I simply do not have the room for these speakers nor the time to build and listen to them, especially with a 1 year old now running about. I desperately want to keep these speakers, having had the 3Pi speakers in the past, but it's just not to be.

For details go to pispeakers.com where you will find tons of data about the design. I have all of the plans and schematics (though they are available for free from Wayne at Pispeakers). The parts I am selling are for the premium version of the speakers and the new kit price costs over $1500 a pair.

Here is what I have for sale:
- 2x JBL 2226H woofers (excellent condition, some scuff marks on back of magnet and couple minor blemishes, but otherwise minty, new price is about $500 ea.)
- 2x B&C DE250 compression tweeters (very low hours on these, I used them for a short time in an upgraded pair of 3Pi speakers before deciding to build the 4Pi, new price is $110 ea.)
- 2x Eminence H290 waveguide/horn, brand new, never used or mounted, still have the labels on them (not sure these are available anymore, new price is $45 ea.)
- 2x crossovers built up for 3Pi speakers with Dayton caps, Janzen air core inductors, and Mills resistors in signal path (pispeakers sell their PCB version for $125 ea., these have been carefully laid out and are point-to-point wired using the component leads)
- Additional components needed to convert 3Pi crossover for use with 4Pi speaker (caps and resistors, everything except the two 0.5mh inductors mentioned above)

***SOLD***
Asking $675 for the whole package. Local sale only (Detroit area) as I really don't want to risk shipping those massive JBL drivers.

Great deal for a really good speaker. Surprised you can't find somebody to build it for you but alas, if you don't have the time to listen, then it is best to sell it to somebody who can enjoy it. :thumb:

Bump for a good seller, great guy (met you at an audio show in Livonia).

Best,
Anand.

Thanks jtwrace... ad updated to include "Detroit area."

Anand, thanks for the endorsement. I really do wish I could make these work and I have someone that can build the cabs, but my priorities have shifted over the past year, to say the least.
