**** Listing is Canceled****

Like many of you, whenever I read ads in this section one of the first things I wonder is why someone is selling the piece. Especially if they say how difficult it was to make the decision to part with it, I think it's natural to be a bit cynical and wonder to what degree that's a bit of a sale's pitch. Well, anyone who knows me knows that when I say it's killing me to list this item, it's as true and sincere as I can be. I absolutely love this product and I know once I let it go it'll be very difficult to ever find it again.

So anyway, for sale is my McCormack MAP-1 Multi-channel Analog Preamp. What the heck is that, you may ask? It's the perfect way to have a 5.1 multi-channel rig, but not have to settle for inferior sound. You simply allow the bluray, DVD, game console, universal player, etc to handle the processing and then connect the pre-outs to the McCormack. Anything with a 5.1 pre-out would be ideal for this beautiful preamp. In my case, I have an Oppo BD-93 player connected to it, and I simply have the Oppo handle the speaker configuration and the bass management. I also access the Oppo's on-board test tones so that I can set the trim levels on each channel of the MAP. (Trim levels are able to be set for LF, RF, C, LR, RR, and Subwoofer on the MAP-1.)

It has two full 5.1 inputs plus an additional 3 sets of stereo inputs. It's built like an absolute tank, looks beautiful, and has Steve McCormack's proprietary ARM (Ambiance Retrieval System) that allows 2-channel sources to blend into a 5.1 presentation. It works great.

I am the second owner of this item and I do not have the original packaging. I have the power cable and the remote, and I'm sure that Conrad Johnson (purchased McCormack Audio) or Steve McCormack himself have a copy of the manual if desired. It's fairly straight forward, though, and I'd be happy to provide a working overview if requested.

The unit sold new for approx $2399. My asking price is $849 shipped.

Wow, I figured this would go quick!

Okay, until Sunday 9/29 at midnight EST, I'll let it go for $599 to an AC member...after midnight it's going up on Audiogon.

EDIT: I just spoke with Steve McCormack and he is going to provide me a copy of the manual, so that will be included with the purchase.

Also, here is a current listing from Spearit Sound to establish value:  http://www.spearitsound.com/product.cgi?group=109&product=2384
