Acoustic panel shipping

I find this quite interesting:

Two different acoustic companies(Doesn't have anything to do with them)
One company to ship four 2'X4'X6" thru fedex=341.20
Second company to ship 2'X4'X6" panels thru fedex=639.45

Now the first company the panels are a lot cheaper and maybe weigh 3-4 lbs lighter, plus they are on the same coastline and further south than the second one.
The second company is 3-4 states closer to Canada and yet fedex charges double even though the dimensions are basically the same.
Is insurance that much of a difference that it doubles.
IF fedex can't hear this,I'll turn it up for U :finger:.

I feel ya.  Shipping can really suck.  A couple months ago I had to ship some ammo, about 1,000 rounds of .45 ACP.  Granted, that's pretty  heavy but not a very big box. Cost me $75.00! :o  Nearly had a heart attack.

It's probably more due to how much they ship to Canada if anything. Some companies also might pick up small bits of the shipping fee to make it more affordable for their customers.
It also doesn't really have to do with distance in most cases - it's cheaper for us to ship to BC than it is to ship to SK, for example, even though SK is much closer to us.
