Up for sale are my Antique Sound Labs Hurricane DT 200 monoblock amplifiers. These amps are the original version, but heavily modified. Asking $3600.

They have been in storage for a few months prior to a recent full evaluation and bench test done last week by Ric Schultz of EVS. Ric also did all the modifications and he is available if anyone has detailed questions regarding the mods. I am selling due to massive system overhaul (moving to SETs, small room, smaller speakers, etc).

The amps are functioning perfectly. Visually, the stainless steal finish is in good shape, though there is some wear and tear on the black transformer covers, including minor hairline scratches on transformer covers, and one faint but visible scratch on one cover. The black patina of one of the faceplates has also faded a bit with age. I am the original owner.

The modifications are as follows:

--WBT silver RCA input jacks

-All coupling caps replaced by VH Audio V-Cap teflon capacitors and all main power supply caps bypassed by VH Audio V-Cap teflon capacitors (.47 and .1 values). There are twenty (20!) teflon V-Caps installed per amp.

--Rikon Ohm and Dale/Vishay  1 watt 1% carbon resistors used throughout the signal path, in the bias stage and in various power supply locations.

--Large Bybee Quantum Purifiers on the B+ voltage between mains transformer and rectifying bridge (two per amp)

--Harris “Ultra Fast—Soft Recovery”diodes  used throughout

--pentode/triode switch disabled and bypassed—amp operates only in triode mode (which is what it sounds best in—but the switch can be easily restored)

--Zoebel networks across the outputs replaced by Sonic Cap and Dale resistor combination

-- VH Audio Pulsar wire used as signal wire

--All transformer covers internally damped

--Inside of bottom cover fully damped (the supplied rubber feet have been removed; I used the amps with Sistrum stands and would highly recommend them or other kinds of footers, ie Stillpoint ultras, etc).

Included in the asking price:

-six 6SN7s as the input tubes:  RCA Vt-231 Grey Glass, Sylvania Bad Boys 6SN7, and Tung-sol black glass VT-231

--a full complement of Genelex Gold Lion reissue and Electro-Harmonix KT-88s—some of these tubes have quite a few hours on them. I can also offer additional Genelex and Electro-Harmonix KT-88s as spares.

--Herbie’s Ultrasonic Rx tube dampers installed on all tubes on both amps

I have the original boxes and can ship but would prefer a local pickup of these heavy amps.
