FS: SAS Audio Labs 7A
« on: 28 Aug 2013, 11:49 pm »
Up for sale is my SAS Audio Labs 7A which delivers amazing transparency and detail. I'm downsizing to a Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum and have to give up a lot of gear. I'm the second owner and the amp was vetted by Steve Sammet before I got it. It has Jena Labs wiring and comes with the stock tube. The case has some minor cosmetic blemishes but nothing noticeable from a few inches away. My asking price includes routing it via Steve, who has promised to give it a check-up before passing it on. to the buyer.

Black body with silver knobs as well as the three position "frequency profile" switch on the back and a switch for changing the power polarity. It uses a single JJ E88CC/6DJ8/6922 tube provided by Steve.

Glad to answer any questions.

Price is US$650 plus (partial) shipping and PayPal.

hi - would appreciate some clarification - not seeing the silver knobs or switch for changing power polarity - are the above pics the actual unit?  seems to describe this unit http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=115395.0

Hi Sorry, was out of town and just saw your questions. I got it through Steve Sammet, it's not the unit you mention. Feel free to check the serial number with Steve to get more info.
It has the tonal switch at the back but I'm not sure if it's that means it changes the power polarity...I opted for black knobs from Steve.
The pics are the actual unit, I can send more if you like.

I owned one of these and they are silly good.  It's a used market bargain!

I had one of these as well before upgrading to the SAS 10A.  The 7A is a great preamp and a real bargain at the seller's asking price.  One piece of advice, try the Genelex Gold Lion 6922 tube with this preamp.  I use them in my 10A and feel they are a worthwhile improvement over the stock JJ's.  The JJ tube is very good and very inexpensive.

Good luck with the sale.  I'm surprised this preamp hasn't sold yet because there is nothing in this price range that compares to this preamp, especially with the Gold Lion tube.

Still bumpin', still hopin'.... :thumb:

p.s. thanks for the comments guys, this is indeed a tremendously transparent preamp. It may not be all that pretty but it is ideal for someone that likes clean, unadorned or colored sound.
