Hi guys,

I've just upgraded my my workhorse desktop and realized - Albert has spoiled me and M-Audio av40 does not satisfy me anymore :-(

Does anyone tried Uni-1 as a computer speaker?

Also considering an active monitor like Adam A7X.
Any advise on the monitor which could remind you of a VSA sound?

Am I starting to go crazy while waiting for my VR-4 => VR-44 upgrade? :-)

Coincidentally, I use ADAM computer monitors. Artist 3s to be specific.

VR-100XS's would work well on a desktop.

I am currently using a pair of MoFi OML-1s, which per a reviewer have the same drivers as VR-1s (and also LSA-1s) which differences in the cabinet and crossover and they work very well as nearfield monitors

Hi Phil,

Yes, we use the Unifield One in our studio connected to the computer.
If you can put them a bit further away than the OML's in the picture above, soundfield will be great than.
Due to the concentric tweeter music will be all over the room very easy.

Good luck,

Cor

In the new place I'll be in early next year, they will actually be used in a real room (it's way overkill for what I use them for in the office now).  I have stands for them already.  I traded a modded FM tuner (which I was not using) here on Audio Circle and I did not have an alternative place to put them where they would see use.

They have a very clear midrange, very low distortion but can't really play loud and the frequency extremes are overshadowed by the mids. Finding the right angle for the panels can be tricky. Darned good price performance even when they were sold new at retail but they do have limitations as stated above. FPS drivers are great devices.

There was a limited run of clear acrylic baffled 200s and those were really eye candy.
