What power cord are you using with your Bryston 4B-SST2 power amp?

What improvements have you noticed by upgrading the power cord on the amp?

I have a Nordost Vishnu on mine.  It gave a bit tighter bass and an overall smoothness. :thumb:

I have a Cardas Clear power cable.  After some break-in time, it provided a bit deeper and more focused bass.  I tried plugging it into my Bryston BIT 15 but it sounded better plugged into the wall.  However, that was when both the cable and the BIT were new so the results may be different now.

My Bryston 4B-SST² amp has a four meter Pangea AC9 powercord.
It improves the bass some.
I also have the Bryston plugged into a Furman REF20i power conditioner.
The conditioner has a Pangea AC9SE cord to it.

I use Mojo Audio Enigma (8AWG), with Furutech FI-28(R) connectors, on my 7BSST2.

I have two 4B-SST and I use stock cords.

I do not hear improvements by changing power cords.

I have not changed the house wiring either.

The electrical wires from the utility company's step down transformer to my house are original and unchanged too. I am not sure the last time the utility company changed the transformer oil either.

To quote Bryston,

"A/C Power Cables:
When you plug your power cord into the wall outlet you are in 'SERIES' with all the wire on the other side of the wall all the way back to the power source. The small length of power cord from the wall to the amp is insignificant compared to the miles of wire it is connected to. As long as the power cord can deliver the current and voltage required to drive the amplifier to full power it is as good as it can get."

However, I have available exclusively designed tin foil hats that will help reduce the power losses and RF/EM interference of Bryston amplifiers and make them sound better. These are available for $100 each +$85.95 shipping. Research has shown that the human brain is both electrically noisy as well as full of lossy electrolytic material that will attenuate electromagnetic signals. My tin foil shields are the best.

High-end audio equipment manufacturers concern themselves with the tiniest design details in order to provide their customers with the best sounding product possible.  I have always thought if a better power cable would improve the sound the manufacturer would include it in the box.

With that said, threads such as this one always get down to the believers and non-believers, neither of which will be convinced by the other so the threads go nowhere.

I once bought a pair of B&W 803 speakers from a dealer (when I was VERY new and ignorant about this hobby). He PROMISED they would sound better than the Boston Acoustics speakers I had, even when plugged into my $600 Denon receiver. Well, they didn't. In fact, the Boston's sounded a tad better. Fortunately for me, he allowed me to return them (which was the agreement before I bought them, since I was skeptical).

I'll bet you my annual salary the B&W 803's were the better sounding speaker (at 10x the cost, the should have been). However, I didn't have the equipment necessary to reveal their capabilities. I've had that same experience in the last two years when adding Bryston equipment (BDA-1, BDA-2, BDP-2, 4B SST-2, etc.) that was an upgrade over my current equipment. Better equipment yielded a better result. However, I was able to appreciate the BDP-2 more when I had (demoed) the 4B-SST2.

I've heard power cables make a change in the sound. By my account, it was a minor change, and it was under ideal circumstances, and not worth the cost increase (in my opinion) for the given improvement.

At the end of the day, if you can give equipment (cables, sources, speakers, etc) a test run in the environment you will use it in, you can best judge whether the difference (if any) is worth the cost (to you).

This thread is pointless. It is a road too often traveled with no real destination. I  can hear differences but not everyone is so blessed. :deadhorse:

I have a 4B ST , I use a Triode Wire Labs Ten Plus
This reasonably priced cord does an excellent job of making the music flow from a quieter and smoother background.

This is what your powergrid looks like:

A---------------------------------------[large part skipped here]---------------------------------------B---------------------------------------C----D-E-F

A: generator
B: transformer
C: area station
D: fusebox
E: wall outlet
F: audiocomponent

One can make changes in this chain starting at D. In a perfect situation one can avoid losses by installing extremely expensive cable.
As you can see you only are able to improve a VERY small part of the chain.
Instead of 500 miles you have shortened the chain to 499,998 miles by changing the power cable to your component.

By changing those last 8 ft you can hear IMMENSE differences? Just imagine how amazing your neighbor's set must sound just because he lives 20 yards closer to the area station...

This ^^^ said, I have upgraded my powercables from the standard 16 gauge to a heavier 14 gauge.
All in-wall wiring in my home is solid 14 gauge, I just figured it would not hurt if the component wiring would be as thick.

But that last bit can and does act as an interference antenna, both receiving and transmitting.

Perhaps every 1000+ cable should come with this:

After all if our ears can hear improvements I'm sure this will pick up any audible changes cables make :thumb:.

Yes, I think that's the main reason for the better sound. :thumb:
