Out of curiosity I picked up a Command Records lp based on their reputation for quality. Like everyone of a certain age we spent many a late weeknight listening to Doc Severinson... so what the hey. After all I know the guy can actually handle the instrument.
Well, "Doc Severinson.. the new Sound of Today's Big Band" is terrible, but so well recorded. With Dick Hyman arranging I had hopes that it might be decent. No. Canadian Sunset, Monday Monday, Here there and everywhere, I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face... and so much more that you can't wait to hear if they are going to be as bad as the one before.
It's the listening version of slowing down to see a car wreck. Such a shame. The guy could really play.
Oh well, it was't a complete waste. I know to include Command lps in my list to look for.
