After 30 or more years since the release of Multicap PPMFX film capacitors new preamps continue to come out using these caps. What are your opinions of these caps in 2013 and why do manufactures still use them?

Hey!

Short answer.... because these are good caps :D

OK, a little more on that.... I have four .22uf of their least expensive line, the PPMFX same as the one in the picture above in my phono section of my pre for about 10 years now...maybe a bit longer. And the sound is fine. For the price I think these are still compare well to today's newer and fancier caps.

And yes they are better than electrolytic caps... if you have room and budget for them. :D

Take care,

Yes, good cap., good price for the type of cap.. Any manufacturer who uses them gets a tick for not being a cheapskate. They're also a good mod. as a replacement for electrolytic caps in some positions.
