The title pretty much says it all.

Awesome amp. You'll likely never run across another one of these, especially with a silver face. 8/10 condition. Looks and sounds excellent.

Had a check-up late last year by David Belles, which was $300. He didn't itemize the receipt, though, so I can't tell you exactly what was done. It's an older piece, so I think he recapped it. If anyone here has dealt with David, you know he's old school and if he says he did $300 worth of labor and minor parts upgrades, I tend to believe him.

Would like $750 $700 $675......now $650 OBO.

Though I'd rather sell, I'm also considering partial trades for gear of interest. Let me know what you have.

Ships from 57006 to US lower 48 and Canada.

Hi,

This is a beautiful looking amplifier and  I have only ever heard good things  about Belles products.  Good luck with the sale.

Thanks! It's a fantastic amp and quite a remarkable value. Same goes for its younger brother (ref v2).

Hi,

Sometimes I wish I lived in the US this amplifier looks like a really good buy for the price.  Here is a link to a review:

http://www.soundstage.com/revequip/belles_150a_hotrod.htm

Hifi gear is just so hard to sell these days and that is why I have two amplifiers sitting in my attic at the moment gathering dust.  One of the amplifiers retails for $4200US.

Good luck.

Regards Rod

ps do you still have the original boxes?  Sometimes that helps with selling gear.

Yes, it seems that unless you're willing to practically give your gear away, or are selling the latest gadget getting great press reviews, then selling may take awhile......especially on AC, which is OK with me.

No, I don't have the original box for the Hot Rod, but have a properly sized, good quality box that I plan to use along with plenty of tape and bubble wrap. I've sold many pieces and know how to pack very well. Thanks for asking. :thumb:

As I have had interest and questions about the 150A Ref v2, I've added pics. It comes with OBM. It is an easy 8/10 approaching 9/10. Something worth mentioning is that this is a dual mono amp. It shares much of the Belles house sound of the Hot Rod, but with more of everything. More resolution. More control. More extension. More separation. It truly is a "Reference" amplifier at a relatively low price.

Giving the Hot Rod another bump before taking it to Audiogon.

Yes, it has 3 channels, though most of us just want 2. Keep in mind that having this extra channel should translate to more power reserves when just 2 channels are used. Also, consider that it has had recent service by David Belles and should be good to go for many years. This is really an excellent value and I'm surprised no one seems interested in it here.

Do not give up! I have read good things about Belles' design but never had one so I am curious...

Do you know what year this amp was made? And does the amp has any audible (mechanical) hum?

Thanks!

I don't know the exact year of production, but I believe the 150A Hot Rods (not upgraded standard 150A's) were produced from the late 90's (around 1996-1997) up to about the time of the introduction of the 150A Reference in the early 2000's (2003 I believe). I think my Hot Rod may be a rather late model, as I don't believe the silver face was an option in the first few years of production. I once had a standard 150A and thought I'd call Dave Belles as I had some questions about it, including the age of my amp. He said they don't keep records of the production date. I was a little baffled by this, but it kind of makes sense I guess. He's not concerned with keeping track of when he made the amp as much as he is about when the amp was first sold and when the applicable warranty period started.

Regarding mechanical hum : Very slight hum lasting maybe 2-3 seconds can be heard at turn on. The power supply seems to stabilize very quickly as zero hum is heard after this brief period. I even put my ear right next to the amp (above the transformer) and heard nothing. This is one of the most quiet class A/B solid state amps I've ever owned.

Bump. Hot Rod is now on Audiogon. I don't think it will last there long, so if you've been thinking about grabbing it, you might want to move. :thumb:
