Question about the Silver Faced Pioneer line

I was wondering if there is a web site that describes the differences between the various models of receivers and amplifiers.
For example what would the difference be between a sx737, sx750 and sx780 ?
Are they just cosmetic or are there some engineering differences ?

I am shopping for some "silver faced" gear but there sure seems to be a lot of different model numbers  :scratch:

Within a given series, the power output and number of features increased as the price point increased, similar to the way it is today with AVRs.

Check the Audiokarma website.  The have a whole section dedicated to Pioneer audio, complete with a chronology of all the vintage Pioneer receivers.

THE definitive site used to be Anthony Young's Silver Pioneer reference site, which unfortunately has been down for a while now.  It's still archived, though, and is a great place to start:
