Interesting, but the link is to a 2008 review!

Very nice review of course, and the current Fet Valve 600R is rated way better now by TAS.  I just wonder where this link came from.

Take a few minutes this weekend to actually read the Declaration of Independence once more.  It never becomes a stale read!

The link is to an old article. It was embedded in the "Salute to US manufactures article.

I received the email, too. Whomever reviewed the Ultra 550 for this article most likely had it connected wrong. :duh:

In any case, on the outside chance that you have not received the same email, Frank, I forwarded my copy to your AVA inbox.

Have fun,

Jerry

I really do appreciate the "salute" from the Absolute Sound.  My first impression above was because all I noticed was the obsolete review.   I am sure the TAS editor that put this together overlooked that.  No problem.

By the way, I heard our equipment set up in the reviewer's home with the speakers used, a pair of $20,000 B&W Diamond 802s.

I felt that the speakers were pretty bass lean, my feeling about all the 802 speakers I have heard over the years.  They never seem to get the bass right with two smaller woofers as compared with one big woofer in their 801 series.  Probably an amplifier with "fat bass" would have been a better match for them.

Of course a current generation Fet Valve 600R with fully regulated output circuits, would have gotten everything out of the speakers there was to get.
