Speaker Cables for Bryston SST2 Amps
« on: 1 Jul 2013, 12:49 am »
In a previous post, I asked about XLR balanced interconnects for Bryston amps and got some really great replies, thanks!

Now, I'd like to know what speaker cables would you recommend to use between a Bryston 4B-SST2 power amp and a pair of ProAc Response D30R floorstanding speakers (10 foot length with banana plugs)?

Also, what would you recommend for replacing those horrible ProAc binding post links (i.e. good quality short speaker cables or replacement links)?

I like my Kimber 8TC. I opened up the 'weave' and inserted a 1" thick cotton rope into the core of the wires. I use two pair to biwire my Magnepan 3.6. I have other solid cor silver plated doubled up 12 gauge wire from amp to crossovers(with the crossovers right next to amp, then two sets of the 8TC to the speakers.)

I'm also using WireWorld Silver Eclipse 6 speaker cables from 7B's out.  Great results, in fact it's no secret Bryston has used WW cables at various shows.  They are a good company located in Naples FL.  The president and owner will answer your emails.

Replacement links.  Why add additional wire-to-connector junctions when you can go one-piece solid?

You can use the Cardas CLJP pure copper jumpers (~ $30) or if your binding posts have through holes, 2" to 3" lengths of #10 pure copper solid conductor ground wire (~ $0.25).

XLO Signature 3. Everywhere. IC's, PC's, speaker cables. Since I installed them, components have come and components have gone in my system but I have never reconsidered the cable thing. Case closed. The Sig 3's abide. YMMV.

Bryston cables. It only makes sense. They are designed to work with their own gear. Really look no further. Save some money as well.

One more for Bryston Cable.  I am using them with WBT locking terminals at both ends.

Once again, Bryston and they don't have an additional charge for a bi wire configuration.

Bryston. It outdoes my last speaker cables which were Beldens from Blue Jeans cable.

Audience Au24e are the cables I get next if I upgrade to the speaker I have in mind.

I have used AudioQuest Volcano (garden hoses) with Revel Salons and 7B's with very good results (amazing bass). I would still use these today if they were long enough. I had them chopped up to 3' lengths for the mono blocks and are now too short for my current speakers.

I currently use the much lower priced Audience Conductor speaker cables and they are excellent for the price ($200-$300 6ft used).
