Bruce,
Please note that some of the improvements were done a long time ago, but were not reflected on our web site until recently.
We updated our modulator and motherboard designs. The modulator board has some component value changes for increased feedback bandwidth. This translates to less overall feedback, but slightly more detail at high frequencies. The motherboard was improved (new PCB design) as well, and that was done more than a year ago.
We also improved the chassis to add more fasteners for added durability. Some small changes in the hardware used make the Cherry go together nicer.
We improved some of the internal wiring as well, decreasing length of signal connections.
We improved our shipping container. It is now reinforced on the bottom. Please keep the box!
We might have made a mistake in doing this one, but we removed the "PLUS" version of the Cherry because we were upgrading most PLUS purchases to the ULTRA version. However, we now have a bunch of 1500W transformers in stock. These are being used to upgrade "standard" Cherry versions to what used to be the PLUS version, minus the fancy binding posts. Other improvements that were on the PLUS with respect to the standard version are now INCLUDED in the standard version. This means more amp for the money if you buy the least expensive Cherry Amplifier.
Also note that we customize orders all the time. We have a special now on the faceless Cherry MONO, but this can be upgraded several ways:
1. Add faceplate
2. Upgraded transformer (1500W instead of 750W)
3. Upgrade binding posts (WBT Gold instead of Dayton)
Just ask us (at Support@DigitalAmp.com) if you'd like to upgrade your existing Cherry Amp or add some to a new order.
Well, that just about covers it. Comments/questions are more than welcome. Thanks for the compliment and kind post.
