I want to pass this story on to anyone considering purchasing VSA speakers. Last week I received my VR 35s from a very kind gentleman who enjoys the ability to check out new speakers about once a year. He had Mr Von Schweikert mod a pair of VR 35s with wire and capacitor upgrades plus built additional RAAL tweeters with a Fostex attenuators in a matching cabinet that sits on top perfectly. Well what a fantastic speaker. I moved way up from B & W 804 Diamonds to VSA. Really there is no comparison the VR 35 just dominating the 804 in all areas even with out the subs working. That is right the subs were blown and I was still amazed by the sound. During the second evening session I leaned down behind the speaker to get close to the sub and no sound hmmmm. Well the previous owner has 2 V 15 Shockwave subs and of course never noticed that some DC got loose of an amp or something else and damaged the subs in the VR-35s. Well I was too excited the first session to even notice it.
So I called Mr Von Schweikert and discovered the true meaning of CUSTOMER SERVICE. First he knew these particular speakers intimately and 2nd was more concerned with getting the speakers fixed than worrying about 2nd owner warranty technicalities. I mean we talked tech for 30+ mins and how to do the replacement and I'll get you new subs out tomorrow before even mentioning that it is NOT in the warranty to replace anything to 2nd owners. That is how to get loyal customers for life. Really great speakers REALLY GREAT customer service. Well what a great company. Plus how many times do you get to talk to the man who designs and builds these fantastic speakers for 30+ mins like we are friends already. Mr Von Scheikert is a true gentleman. Speakers sound truly fantastic can't wait to install the new subs!
