Bohlender & Graebner RD75 and Radia Pro 1.9 drivers

Anyone have any first hand experience with either of these drivers.  From what I have read they are very flat from about 200HZ and up(aside from a peak in the 4k area).  Use from 200HZ up with very few crossover parts..Seems like it would be a perfect match with Dannys Servo's.

Danny, any thoughts?  Have you experimented with these?

They are pricey!

The higher power handling pro series(appear to have higher sensitivity as well):

I have used both the RD-75 and Pro 1.9 in a similar set-up as you suggest. Mine uses the 75" planar with a pair of OB woofer panels of four 15" drivers each. Use a DEQX HDP-3 for digital crossovers and driver corrections (frequency response, amplitude, phase and group delay). The HDP-3 also allows for auto and manual EQ. Sounds quite good. The biggest drawback of these planars is the high frequency response drops quite sharply above 15Khz. The high frequencies sound OK, but are missing the overtones and transient speed of good tweeters like the Raal or BGs own Neo 3. The Pro 1.9 is slightly more efficient--maybe a db and has less overall coloration than the RD 75 due to its use of  Kaladex film construction. These do not use the more powerful neodymium magnets like the Neo series.

I'll bet that sounds really good Chris.  Are placement and sweet spot an issue or are they more or less forgiving than other speakers you've experienced?

I have been looking at the BG LS 420's for the reason mentioned. I love the sweet extension of the Neo 3 and from what I have heard, the Neo 10 is amazing too. The downside is paying full retail and no DIY fun. They still need a sub. might be fun to use the upper section of the LS 420 with Danny's OB servo 12's. :thumb:

They throw a large soundstage and have very low self coloration. More forgiving because the very high frequencies are attenuated. The LA-800 and LA-600 look quite good.

They do play down low enough to reach our servo subs. And I can't think of anything else that would be a better match with them than our servo woofers.

I have not favored them because of the rolled off top end and low sensitivity. They just don't have the dynamics or high resolution levels of the Neo's. They do have some nice attributes though.

BPT; which OB drivers are you using? I'm planning same kind of a setup, with Magneplanar ribbons for highs.

They are DPL-15s from Exodus Audio (sadly no longer in business). Long excursion, high power, Q of .75, fs of 18Hz., treated paper that can move a ton of air.
