What's going on with Sonicap?
« on: 12 Jun 2013, 06:59 pm »
I was just over at Sonicraft looking at the Platinum listings and noticed not only were they out of .1uF & .22uF caps but their prices seemed higher than I remember for the smaller caps.  Do you have any Platinums in those values, Danny?

Thanks, Danny.  I was hoping to use platinum caps in my tube amp rebuild.

Do you know if Sonicap will be making more anytime soon?

I don't know.

I do have some .33uF in stock and one pair of .1uF left.

I called Sonicraft and they said not to expect any new caps until next year.   :|

no production for 6 months.

I suppose that is the downside of using smaller companies that can't manufacture in house. 6 months will stall a project for sure. Time to look at Mundorf, V Cap, Erse and the like. The Dayton's are actually darn good for the money too.

If you have to have a .1 or .22 value then call Sonic Craft and let them know the application that you need them for. They carry tons of other very good caps and do all kinds of testing with them. They may have a good recommendation for you.
