AVA Customer Service

Frank deserves a BIG thank you from me!
I bought an AVAStar preamp and I'm the third owner which means no warranty.
I was getting it just about perfect with my semi-amazing tube shoot out when one channel cut out, deader than a door knob.
Dean Rosenthal (AKA Avnerdguy) suggested that I send it to him for a look see and then he ran it over to Frank.
Frank repaired it free of charge and it's back on it's way into my fat little fingers.
Thank you so much, Mr. Van Alstine, you have just won yourself a lifetime customer!
And thank you to Dean as always.

This preamp is going to be the heart of my semi-vintage 2014 system which I'm slowly accumulating pieces for.
It should be a killer stereo but that's a story for next year.  I'm pretty enthusiastic about this one, it's coming together pretty well, a bit at a time.

I finally got off my dead butt and hooked it up to the main system and whatever Frank did changed the sound tremendously for the better.  Something was amiss but I was too unfamiliar with the product line to realize it.
This is a very, very good preamp and with some NOS Sylvania tubes in it the sound is just wonderful.
It just sound great!

Thank you Frank and thank you Avnerdguy for recommending this component.

I have heard nothing but positive things about AVA gear and customer service over the years. I don't own anything by him, but I really would not hesitate to get a piece of gear from AVA. I bet your preamp sounds great...

Thanks for the kind word, guys.

I thought this might be a good time to repeat our business model information.

Don't ever take orders or customer's money unless you are absolutely sure you can fill those orders.  Put customer service ahead of filling new orders because your old customers are your most important ones.  Keep overheads as low as possible.  Design metal parts that will stand the test of time and make every piece multifunctional. Always pay your vendors promptly and never use borrowed money.  Run the business because you enjoy it, not just to make money.  The profits are secondary to the love of the music.

Finally, never be satisfied with the the status quo.  We always are exploring new and better audio circuits, and always try to make our equipment obsolete proof by, when designing new circuits, doing our best to make sure that they will allow economic upgrades to existing units.

Best regards,

Frank Van Alstine

Just to add another positive comment....I recently send my T-7 preamp to Frank because the tape monitor button was causing the signal to cut in and out in one channel.  It is a self cleaning button and I never use it.   Frank bypassed the switch at my request, went through the unit and only charged me for new tubes, which it needed.  This is the 5th piece of gear I have owned from AVA (including Biro speakers).  Frank is one of a kind and his gear stands up to anything I have ever compared it to.

IME, stellar for me as well.
Don't own any AVA at the moment, but will always consider them in the running due to Frank's solid designs and stellar service.
