As part of my VS system upgrade, I am selling off my speakers Not to worry, I'm upgrading within the VS lineup! Please see my other listings for the rest of the 5.1 system.
The VR-S1 may be small, but it goes to depths well beyond any sub I have heard under $4,000. The onboard amplifier was replaced about a year ago with one of the newer modules ($400 upgrade) because of a hum from the old one. The sub is amazing, and I have only ever turned the back volume control up to 1.5 out of 10 for fear of our 120 year old building crumbling! This is the kind of bass you
feel! It is also crazy fast, which means the bass is well controlled; no boomy-ness or fade distortion here.
This sub was $1,600 when new and has been lovingly cared for in a smoke/pet/child free home. I'm offering at $550. The front of the sub has moderate blemish, all located on the lower left front. This was the result of unsupervised packers/movers and the moving truck turning over on the highway (looooooong story). There is no damage to the driver or anywhere else on the sub. I have tried to highlight it in the pictures with a flashlight so there would be no surprises. Please note my price very adequately reflects the cosmetic condition. Please email me with any questions/concerns, I'm an honest guy who wants to find his VR S/1 a good home.
Perfect match for the VR-2s (also for sale

). Here is the technical info from the old VS website:
System Type: High-Speed powered mini-subwoofer with electronic crossover. Q=1.
Cabinet Design: Sealed enclosure with 25mm MDF walls, using shelf bracing to eliminate cabinet resonance and coloration; cavity resonance is eliminated using 100% Dacron stuffing.
Woofer: 10” Extreme-Duty driver with stiff cone formed from carbon fiber impregnated plastic resin, which is suspended by a double- thick butyl rubber surround with long-throw design (1.5” peak-to-peak excursion potential). The 70 mm voice coil is aligned in the gap with a double-thick spider and is driven by a 15lb. magnet assembly to provide an extremely high Force Factor. Stiff suspension prevents oscillation and overhang. Power handling is enhanced by rear vented design and high temperature voice coil wire, enabling 600-watt peak program material.
Amplifier: High-Current design with Darlington push-pull circuit and 1KV regulated power supply. High bias Class A operation in the preamp section, Class AB output section. A.C. power is switchable between 117V and 230V. CE approved for Europe. Removable IEC heavy-duty power cord, auto shutoff with green/red LED.
