My brother and I both got Abbey Road as a x-mas present.
The first album that I got - I think - as another present was Ram by McCartney.
I think the first album I bought was America's Holiday.
My first 45 was Johnny River's Boogie Woogie Flu.

Then I stole Elton John's Philadelphia Freedom/Elderberry Wine from KMart!

looking at the previous responses it looks like all of those First Albums were truly vinyl albums. Mine was not. It was a shiny metal colored disc with a black and white portrait of Mr. Peter Gabriel on the mini paper booklet inside of the clear plastic jewel case. I went home and played it on my new and first receiver and CD player. I only had that one CD for months. I used all my money on the system and speakers!

I used to think it was either the sound track to Davy Crockett or 10,000 Leagues under the sea. But I am, if not "multi-facted", schizophrenic when it comes to enjoying music

But lately, I'm wondering if it wasn't the original score of Annie Get Your Gun (Ethel Merman), or South Pacific (but i think that was later), or a really old Leroy Anderson album that had the Syncopated Clock on it and it could even have been Peter and the Wolf, perhaps from the Disney film.

I was born in 1943. My first influence was listening to classical music with my mother on the radio and 78 RPM records, going to musicals with her, and seeing the Boston Pops.

I was a wonderfully spoiled child. "Nothihng can compare" to "mom".

I was first introduced to high fidelity classical music when I was about 13 years old when my mother bought a classical music album from The Readers Digest and my father bought a two pieces RCA Victor stereo unit.
My interest and love for music started because my parents care about
our education and music is a part of the education.

Black Sabbath, Sold our Soul for Rock and Roll! Second album, Deep Purple Greatest Hits. Third, Kiss Alive and another Kiss album when I was in 5th grade and Grand Funk Railroad. I already had all of the Beatles and several Stones recordings on 8 track. Had a bright yellow portable Panasonic TNT 8 track player in yellow that I believe is still in my parents' attic. Loved those 8 tracks back in the day!

Before that, my parents bought me albums for Christmas and my birthday when I was a kid. Mainly, Elvis and Sonny and Cher. I was a big fan of both between the ages of 5-8.

I believe 1962...

My first 45 was Six Days on the Road by Dave Dudley.
It was blue and you could see through it..

I honestly don't remember? I had many singles before buying albums.

Making a guess, it was likely a Three Dog Night album. "Naturally" and "Live At The Forum" were both early acquisitions that saw many hours of play.

Sadly I gave them all away during a move. I didn't think I had time to enjoy the frivolity of music during that period of my life.
