Up for sale is a custom tonearm mount made from UHMW-PE. It is a cantilever style mount designed to support a Pro-Ject 9cc tonearm, which uses M5 mounting bolts on a bolt circle diameter of 48mm (standard Linn mount pattern). The mount provides an offset of 50mm from the main mounting point, with 5.3mm diameter mounting holes (clearance for an M5 thread). The mounting holes are slotted on an arc to allow for +/- 10 degrees of adjustment in the tonearm angle. The mount has a center hole with a 25.0 mm diameter.
UHMW-PE (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene) is a unique material with some unusual properties – including an incredibly high Q-Factor. (Q-Factor is a dimensionless parameter that is often used to measure resonance and vibration absorption.)
This tonearm mount is a custom design which was CNC machined by a local machinist. I had two of these made - one of them is mounted on my personal table, and I am offering the other for sale to the audio community.
