SOLD: Avid Pulsus Phono Preamp

Many of you may have read my comments here and there about the Avid Pulsus handily outperforming the SimAudio 5.3LP with the optional external power supply (MSRP ~$2750) that I previously owned. The Avid really shined in the bass definition and a treble that was extended without being bright. Music Direct's "vinyl guy" told me about this one, and boy was he right about it being a winner. I was dubious, but the Simaudio was soundly trounced (and I am normally more of a "different flavors" kind of poster when in the same ballpark pricewise). But time to make a change (onward and upward), so I am putting this phono preamp up for sale.

Some thoughts about the Pulsus from a review:

"So, an unqualified recommendation for Avid's Pulsus. Whether you're shopping in this price range or not it deserves a listen. It may convince you to spend a little less than you expected, or a little more than you'd hoped. Either way, unless you yearn for some specific coloration, the Avid will provide as spacious, bold, detailed, tuneful, and layered a performance as your front end is capable of; up to and somewhat beyond its price point. It will also last a long time. If I ever decide to start living in the analog present, this is likely the phono stage I'll buy."

You have the isolation of a separate power supply, and simple, easy adjustability from the DIP switches on the underside of the amp. Lots of loading and gain options for any cart.

Audio Circle price: $SOLD.

Still available.

Will likely list on Audio Asylum or Audiogon in a week or so, but want ACers to have he first shot.
