Wav Files stored in Blu-ray discs
« on: 21 May 2013, 03:11 pm »
Hi,

I normally listen directly from CD rather than from Flac or MP3 files  ripped  from CD discs. I have  a fear of storing the CDs as ripped Wav files and store them in HardDisk because I am afraid it might crash.

I am think of ripping my CD disc into Wav files and store them  in  Blu-Ray discs, a rough calculation shows that each BR disc can store up to 35-40 Audio discs. My question is that has anyone store Audio files(Wav format) in BR discs, is there and major problem in retrieving accurate audio data from the discs, if not do you hear any audio differences compared with the original discs? I suspect not, I am just asking.

Thanks in advance.

If the initial rips of CDs are bit-perfect, then file copying the data to and from other hard drives or Blu-ray disks will also be bit-perfect.

Most people who fear a hard drive crash (or if not fear, realize that it could happen), simply backup to another dedicated backup hard drive.  Seems like a lot less trouble to me, but if you prefer backing up to Blu-ray disks, it will work just the same.

Yeah, I got tired of having computer HD's crash or die on me and losing stuff. So finally, this year I did this -

Last year, I kept everything on a backup external - but it died! So now I make sure everything is on all three.
