Preamp question
« on: 18 May 2013, 03:01 pm »
In the near future I'm going to be moving my beloved Insight+ Integrated into my office system and upgrading my main system to separates. For the power amp, I've decided on a Synergy 240 in the small chassis because that's what I have room for. As for the preamp, the choice is between the Insight SL and a T8+. I've read here that you don't need a tubed pre with the Synergy amps, but I've also seen the T8+ recommended with them. I don't have any particular attachment to tubed gear, I'm just looking for the best choice for the music. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated, thanks a bunch!

I would get the T8+.

Might be useful to have some info as to your preferences in music and what your speakers are.

Sorry about that. Soeakers are Salk SongBirds. My musical taste runs the gamut from jazz to classic rock, even classical. The present Control Amp handles them all beautifully, I'm hoping the Synergy 240 and what ever pre I get does as well. My guess is they will, and then some. The question is whether one pre is a better match to the amp than the other.
