My Stratos really rocks, in all respects!
« on: 11 May 2013, 03:38 am »
I bought a Stratos about 6 months ago. I have been a diehard tube lover for about a decade, and am very happy with my Bottlehead 300B Paramounts,
PrimaLuna Prologue 5, and Decware Zen Torii MkIII. Frankly, I only ordered the Stratos in case I could not get, or afford, replacement tubes.
Klaus was very reassuring and told me that he would bias my Stratos to have some tube attributes, and though it would sound rough during breakin,
it would settle down and hold its own. It finally happened this week... I don't need 150 wpc with my Tannoy Canterbury SE's, but it is interesting how
much more control this amp has over the bass. I have had a Robertson 4010 ss amp since 1983, and it does stronger but less musical bass, while the Stratos preserves the musicality. It's great, thanks Klaus!

Hey, thanks for sharing! I assume the Stratos is a stereo model (since you use the singular rather than plural form throughout your post). Can you say whether its basic, plus, extreme, or custom mod (beyond the custom bias you already mentioned)? If custom mod, what tweaks did Klaus make that you're aware of?

Hi Thunder240,
It is a Stratos Plus/120,000uF with the SE+ board, an internal cable upgrade and WBT input jacks.
