New to AC, Magnepan owner 4+ years MMG>1.7

Hello planar fans....new to the forum and long time lurker

I bought the MMG's in summer 2008, and in Oct. 2012 upgraded to the 1.7's

Geoff Poor, at Glen Poor Audio, in Champaign, IL is a great guy, and there store was a pleasure to visit and demo the 1.7 and 3.7

I hope to get get some good pics up soon....

thanks to all the AC members who post, because I have learned so much, and benefited from their knowledge and experience

My current rig (and where its gonna stay for a long time!!! :)

Logitech Squeezebox Touch> Berkeley Audio Alpha Dac II> Wyred 4 Sound STP-SE pre-amp > W4S SX-500 mono-block amps>Magnepan 1.7>
> (2) Rythmik Audio F-12 subs

love Magenpans and where this hobby has taken me over the last 7 years.....Went to the Chicago AXPONA show, 1st audio show,  and left with a great feeling that my system stood with the best of them, at much less cost ....Thank Magnepan!!!! :thumb:

only thing I am left wanting for is possibly the 3.7s, but might be too much for my 16x20 room

thanks again, and hope my 1st post wasn't too long, boring or incoherent :thumb:

Welcome to AC.  You've got some great gear all around.  As a fellow MG 1.7 owner I can sympathize that even after listening to mega buck systems at stores & shows, it's gratifying to come home a feel that you're either ahead of the game or not too far behind at a comparatively marginal investment.

We all like to gawk at photos / videos of other AC systems, so bring 'em on......

Pictures are always good.

That is plenty of space for a 3.7, should fit a 20.7 ok as well. I have a modified Tympani IV in a 17X19/20 space.

Welcome!

Thanks for the welcomes....I will get some pics up this week, too busy listening to music to finish one last piece of drywall/paint work ;)

It has been a 7year journey, and I am in the "done for now" stage....Ha!!!...see how long that lasts.

forgot to add that I have had Mye-stands for the 2 months...another great product, highly recommended

You are so addicted   But aren't we all....take that back, once bitten by the Magnepan, you get the disease :thumb: Sure, I get temped by others, but there is something about the soundstage, midrange and the highs that keep me coming back to my Maggies.  Sure, they're fussy and hard to please, but damn if they don't give it all back in sweet loving music.

We are the Planar Enables so 3.7s would work just fine!
20.7s will work, too.
I have to take some pictures and do a small update but I managed to come to grips with the beasts (20.7s) in my living room.
