What Kind of Torx to Remove BDP-2 Cover
« on: 5 May 2013, 05:16 pm »
I'd like to put an SSD into my new BDP-2 but it appears the screws aren't normal T8 Torx.  What do I need to open up the BDP-2 to install an SSD and my new BP-17 to install the phono card?  I don't want to mess up the screws.

Halloo, Bud:

I had a bit trouble getting the cover off my BDP-2, but it does take a T8 Torx bit. I could not get enough torque to loosen the fasteners with my precision T8 screwdriver, so I had to go to a full-sized handle. (The Husky 11-piece ratcheting set, sold by Home Despot, filled the bill: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-11-Piece-Ratcheting-Security-Star-Bit-Set-12839/202397607#.UYgn_pVDuS0)

Hope this helps,

It sure does.  I've been looking for something like this.

Are you using an internal HD?

Yep: Samsung SSD 500gb. Not the pro, like yours. I'm working with Chris to troubleshoot it, as it doesn't want to play nice. Likely, it's my pedestrian tech skills that present the problem.

Doesn't this player sound fantastic, Bud? With the BDA-2, the music is incredibly accurate and engaging.

I'm replacing a 128GB Intel 520 out of my Mac Pro with the Samsung.  The Intel is going into the BDP-2.

I agree with you about the BDP-2.  I've been forced to re-cable everything to do it justice.
