The Kinks ‎– Sleepwalker

Another one I bought in CA but never spun till now. For Kinks kind of an average outing, though I recall Juke Box Music was an AM staple, and the title track got some college FM play.

Phil,

Is this worth getting if you have a good clean original? My personal view is that surrealistic Pillow and the Dylan 45 rpm reissues along with Workingman's Dead and American Beauty were definitely worth acquiring. Would you put Cheap Thrills and Pearl in that same category?

thanks

Laura, I think it depends on how important these were to you, I agree that Surrealistic Pillow and American Beauty are essential, but I can only say that the first time I opened the gatefold of Cheap Thrills and saw the picture of " Four Guys and one great, great broad" as Bill Graham introduces them on this album, backed by a stack of Marshall amps and I first heard the fury of Combination of the 2 and the unreal beauty of Summertime, I was hooked--so yes, this is worth it to me--your impact may very.

I think of Pearl and Carol King's tapestry as the Yin and Yang of female singers in the early 70's, each astonishing in their own right, but with Pearl and Big Brother, I now have all of the expensive Janis that I will need.

Phil

Thanks Phil. I bought the Janis box set (33.3) and will probably stop there, maybe. :dunno:
