Capturing iTunes Music in Digital Format
« on: 30 Apr 2013, 03:43 am »
I can stream music from iTunes on my MacBook Pro to the BDA-2 using the USB port.  Is there some way to capture the music on iTunes in it's digital format onto a USB drive to use as input into the BDP-2?

Yes.  Just go into the main iTunes Media folder, then into the Music folder and you will find all the files there.

I thought about doing that.  I didn't think it would be that easy.  What I really want to do is put this music on an SSD inside a BDP-2.  Since my iTunes files are on a Mac, I guess I need to format the SSD in a format that works for both Macs and Windows and then just drag and drop the iTunes files to the SSD when it's in my Mac Pro and then take it out and put it in the BDP-2.  From then on I can keep adding the ripped music from Windows running on BootCamp.

Thanks for the advice,
Bud

Format the drive in FAT32 - this is simple on the Mac.
Personally I would not transfer the iTunes music - even if it isn't in a compressed format.  I have found issues with ripping music via iTunes.
The best solution is to rip your music collection with dedicated software.  And in flac format.
The best software to use is dbpoweramp, but this is only Windows compatible.  You can use XLD on the Mac, but it is arduous by comparison.

Ii have been getting music from the library and ripping it using DBPoweramp running on Windows 7 under BootCamp.  It's just that I have some music in iTunes that I got off LP's in the past and it's not available on CD's.  I'll format the SSD using FAT32.

Thanks again.

I've copied my iTunes library to a USB drive and it works fine.  Of course it doesn't sound as good as the music I ripped using DBPoweramp.
