Any thoughts on these kits?  Was thinking about adding one to my system but it's difficult finding any reviews on these kits. (Of course I'd get mine pre-assembled!). Thanks!

Cool.

Is it really hard to put together a kit like that? I have 0 experience, but wouldn't it be fun?- if it wasn't nightmare hard. Plus, I'm in the market for a nice tubed preamp.

Would it be possible/easy to add a remote for volume?

Review of the L3 on the asylum.

AN kits are nice short and sweet preamps IMO. No tape monitors loops, no relays, no phase switches or stand-by functions, ect, pretty much just resisters, caps, tubes, some pots, and selector switch. Nice short and sweet for good sound.

Hey!

I have been using Audio Note UK M1 Phono pre amp since 1997. If there were Audio Kit back than I might have bought their kit instead of factory model one. Anyway, I still have the M1.

As Audio Note UK. I've always enjoy their system at different shows I've attended. And their kit line are based on those finished products. So, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if I ever in a market for a tubed pre or amp.

Compared to what out there I think it is a great value if you can swing a soldering iron. Those AN Kit amps looks greats. If those 300B interstage SET were out back than when I was looking for SET amps I might have bought them instead of my current amp... or maybe not, at least they would have been on my shopping list.

For the price of new Chinese made amp or pre amp, I rather built these AN Kit... well, if you can swing soldering iron and have time of course. :D

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

I had the L3 Preamp Kit and the 2.1b Signature Dac Kit.
I had a friend who has built a number of these kits build mine, and for the money these are well worth it.
You can customize the amount of inputs, outputs, wiring, resistors, and caps.
Wish I had never sold them...damn IRS :cuss: :banghead:

Contact Digital Pete does a good job at building them.   http://digitalpete.org/

Any idea what would be involved in adding remote volume control?

Thanks for the input all.  FYI those links don't specifically review the L2 with phono stage.  And Digital Pete was the guy I'm considering having assemble one for me.  Saw his deal on Audiogon.

No, I had the standard control and was looking to upgrade to a high quality resistor based control when I sold the unit.
I think there is one on the AN Kits site that can be purchased and installed.
