Hi All,
Shutterbob on audioasylum suggested I check this out.

I'm in KC and have been posting there about a formerly though to be hopeless room situation.

system is:
P3-24>Dyna20x>Black Cube SE
Ipod>Wadia i170>Cambridge DacMagic
Simaudio I5SE
Triangle Antal ESW
Cables are a mix of Tributaries and Van Den Hul

Nothing real special, but I like it okay.  Room is a 20x20 square with a 12' ceiling. Am experimenting with Cardas placement at the moment.

I'll probably be dropping by.

Great to have a "west coast" (Kansas City) guy in the group.  Come on over soon and hang out with us.  We're mainly harmless.  I think....mostly.

See ya'

Brian,
Welcome to the group!  What type of problems are you having with the room?  Bass boom?  Imaging?  Too hard? Too soft?  If bass boom, I have a partial solution, thought the WAF is rather low.

Hi Guys,
Is Kent's get together this weekend in St. Louis?  I'd love to check in but will have to rain-check it if possible.

I was whining on the Asylum about hardness, lack of flow, and lack of detail after I listened to a dealer-rig recently that I thought I should have been somewhat close to.

After further investigation, his CDP outclassed and outpriced my digital rig about 3:1, his cables were about 3:1 over mine, and the speakers are known for their richness.  All of this was at the opposite end of the sound spectrum from my system.

While I got the regular nonsense replies there, I also got some placement and configuration ideas.

The room is a square 20' by 20' with 12' ceilings...and a bowed wall of windows covers one side.  This is a shared room and WAF is already only so-so.  I can't push it any more.  I implemented some of the Cardas square room suggestions which helped AND are temporary as I can move my speakers back into position as they're not too heavy.  Does Pottery Barn or Crate & Barrel sell acoustical treatments? As those are about my only possible options for that sort of thing.

So anyway, that's my story.  Have a good day.  Its finally sunny here in KC.  It's been an ugly week.
