Joe Bonamassa in Seattle!

Saw Joe Bonamassa last night at the Paramount in Seattle. Excellent show as always!! Sold out so that was nice though with all the shows he plays in all parts of the world every year i don't think he is hurting for fans:cheesygrin: Blues purists for the most part turn their noses up at him but folks like his music so that's what counts. Last nights show had parts of Clapton, Zep, ZZ Top with some cool ELP/Deep Purple organ licks thrown in, nice mix also of acoustic and electric numbers. The only downsides were seats that had less legroom then the worst of airline seats and folks coming in late to the show, we had people being seated almost an half hour after it's stated start time, very rude:evil:
Besides that though, all was great!

He is here Monday night. I was tempted to go but have stayed away from large venues for a reason.

The older I get, the more I like the small venue concerts. There was a guy at another forum who wrote a lot about seeing Joe at various clubs in Texas back when he was fairly unknown nationally. I got a ticket to see him open for Peter Frampton here. He had a small performance and disc signing at a local CD/record store before his show. Turned out Frampton cancelled due to illness and poor Joe had already got on a plane to fly here. So, I caught the signing show. That was just acoustic.

I know what you mean about small venues, and like you said, in my elder years
First time i saw Joe was at a Brews, Blues, and Q's festival in the Colorado mountains in 2007...free show, excellent show, and lots of autographs

Joe B is awesome. I just "discovered him" in the past few months and am still blown away by his talent.
He's got countless good YouTube videos, including some with a gal named Beth Hart that are pretty cool.

I didn't know that, but seems like it would be a "convenient" arrangement.
I've seen some of her videos that make her look stunning, and I've seen some that....well....um.....really, "not", if you know what I mean.
Here is the official video of the song "Bang Bang Boom Boom Boom". In my opinion, it's the video that's flattered her the most.

Ohh....here's a neat TV special about him when he was 13 years old.
This is cool.

Thanks for the heads-up Howard!
Can't say I've heard that album. Which is surprising between Pandora, Spotify, and Youtube keeping me "in the loop".

An Acoustic Evening
He also has one from the Beacon Theater in New York
The first one is from the Vienna Opera House. I wish he had played an acoustic concert when he was in St. Louis a few months ago at the Fox. He was doing some kind of rock style that was so loud I had to stuff Kleenex in my ears. I was in the third row. Still fun to watch his hands moving even if the music was painful.

I didn't know he was in STL recently.
I'd have gone to that one, for sure.
I love the Beacon theater album. I'll be buying that DVD. It's on my short list.

I first saw Joe when he was 13. I kind of lost track of him until he was about 25. The last 5 years he has become "The Man". As good as his voice is, I love it when he just plays. He just becomes one with the instrument. I saw a little of that with Stevie Ray. I only started listening to him a few months before we lost him. If you are on Spotify you can put all of Joe's music on playlists and listen when ever you want. Happy Listening!

I went to the Bonamassa show at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis last November. I'd heard of him but wasn't all that familiar with his work when a friend invited me. I was a bit disappointed. He's an extremely good guitar player, but, overall, I thought his material weak.
Just reinforced my experience that there are some wonderful musicians out there who'd be better off getting more of their material from other composers as opposed to doing it all themselves. The same is true of some great writers whose work is better displayed in the hands of others. The odds of doing both -- writing and performing -- at a consummate level are rarer than our ego tells us.

I saw him in Tulsa, OK. He's one of my favorite artists, but the show was PAINFULLY loud. I would have left early if I hadn't been there with someone.

Interesting about the volume. He was certainly loud in St. Louis -- that's been part and parcel of the rock scene for a long time -- but it was still fairly standard issue by today's standards. By far the loudest show I've ever been to was Robin Trower a couple of years back. I had ear plugs and even that wasn't sufficient.
I understand that loud goes hand-in-hand with rock music, but I've never understood what's so attractive about making it painful.
